The second patient story is titled "The Million Dollar Man," who had racked up a million dollars in medical bills when he arrived at Dr. Rhdoes' office, skeptical but desperate. He was on a morphine pump, which left him with in a zombie like state. After his treatment, he could play with his grandchildren.

You have to have talked to these people in person and seen them come in wheel chairs and leave weeks later walking to understand the dramatic change in their lives. Imagine, if you can, that your life is a nightmare of pain. You have tried conventional medicine with its surgeries, epidurals, amputations, heavy duty drugs, nerve blocks, implants, water immersion, ice packs, hot packs, all the while being told it's all in your head. Every doctor has a different opinion about what to do, but none of it works. A few patients have been on the verge of death due to drugs.

Then you come to South Texas to a doctor and a treatment you have never heard of until a desperate relative found this guy on the Internet who claimed to have a painless, non-invasive, drug free treatment that could actually make you better. Not only does he say he can make you better, but his goal, which he achieves in the majority of his patients, is to get you pain free.

He does a few odd tests on you, says you have the type of pain he can treat, and then hooks you up to a machine with electrodes, and either right away, or in a few days or a week or two, you begin to feel better. You have your ups an downs, but for the first time in years you can actually sleep soundly. Your pain level begins to subside, and you are astonished. You talk to other patients who have been treated longer than you have, and they rave about their progress. You feel even more encouraged. Years of pain. Years of it. And here is a simple-looking treatment that actually works when nothing else has. You can't believe it. But it's working.

You buy a machine, and when you have been pain free for a certain amount of time, you go back home and continue treatments. You may have to treat yourself regularly for the rest of your life. You may recover to the point where you need the machine periodically. Or you may never have to use it again once you reach optimal recovery. Only time will tell. But You Got Your Life Back. You may have to return to the doctor for periodic tune ups. But at some point in the future, if the doctor can get funding for large clinical studies and prove to the established medical community that this treatment does what it does, he may train enough doctors and have upgraded equipment so that people can get this treatment in their own home towns. And if his recognition is wide spread, people in pain will opt for this as their first line of defense against chronic pain, not their last.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get carried away. But this book is the book of my heart, and I wanted to give you a sense of what it means not only to me, but of what it can mean to people in chronic pain. And there are 70 million of them in the United States. My amateurish book cover and book layout are a detriment to having this doctor taken seriously. Only a very professional cover and interior layout will be taken seriously by the media. And that can happen only if I can promote this book so that it catches the eye of the media because of large sales on Amazon.

Been a long time since I stopped by and chatted. But I finally got the book posted on Amazon, and I am eager to promote it.

My purpose is to let folks in pain know about Dr. Donald Rhodes and what he can do for them. In that vein, I have spent an inordinate amount of time getting to this point. Seems the gremlins who live in my computer delight at throwing their little monkey wrenches into my projects and then howl with laughter when they frustrate me beyond words.

However, I regularly stick out my tongue at the little varmints and plod on in spite of them.

My latest endeavor is to get the book cover redone professionally and the interior relaid out. Seems that if I want Dr. Rhodes to have a chance for big time recognition, any book that might sell enough on Amazon to draw media attention has to look spiffy. My attempt to put this book together myself shows my lack of graphic arts skills.

However, the information in the book was written by a professional writer, me. I have an extensive professional writing background and felt I had the skills to transcribe and revise Dr. Rhodes' story from tapes of his talks, to interview and guide patients in putting together their own stories, and to select somewhat technical information to back up Dr. Rhdoes' explanations of his methods.

So, I hope soon to have a new cover to upload. Then I will begin the process of getting the word out about the marvelous things this doctor is doing to banish chronic pain.

Without Dr. Rhodes, these people would be dead today.

Most of the people who have come through Dr. Rhodes' doors have incredible stories. Many of them have been through the worst type of agony, all kinds of failed therapies, and have deteriorated, not improved before they find Dr. Rhodes. Let me tell you about one such person.

I met Colleen, a women in her thirties, a couple of years ago. She was on her way out of Dr. Rhodes' office as I was coming in to gather patient stories. Although she was headed to the airport to catch a plane back to Louisiana, she stopped to talk to me when I told her I was writing a book on Dr. Rhodes. She was furious. NOT at Dr. Rhodes, rather at the way she had been treated by pain doctors before she got to Dr. Rhodes.

An injury that led to chronic pain resulted in her undergoing a long list of standard and off-the-wall therapies that had almost killed her. She had endured operations, injections, a wide variety of physical therapies, hot water/cold water treatments, a pic line from her arm to her heart, drugs of every kind. In a nutshell, her life had become a nightmare. She said for the last year of her life, she had lain on the couch 24 hours a day, unable to walk, to feed herself, to think clearly, to do anything. She reached the point where she could no longer talk, couldn't even swallow, and was dying. Her pastor had gathered her family to arrange her funeral. Everyone in her church was praying for her. Then, at almost the last moment, through the grapevine, they learned of a woman in their vicinity who had been in bad shape with chronic pain, had gone to Dr. Rhodes, and was doing fine. Colleen's family decided they had to make one last try to save her. And here she was, three weeks later, up and walking out of Dr. Rhodes' office and telling her story.

I think the problem with treating chronic pain is that most doctors don't know how to alleviate it because there are really no good therapies for the intense type of pain that Dr. Rhodes treats, except for his method. He researched, uncovered information that others have not found, and designed a machine and a use for that machine that are unique. He is a brilliant individual, an all around nice guy, and a man who really cares about his patients. He continues to improve his methods to make recoveries faster and better.

I recently asked two of Dr. Rhodes' patients where they thought they would be today if they had not gone to him. One said, "I would be dead. I couldn't endure that kind of pain. I would have raised my children first, and then I would have killed myself."

The other patient said, "I would be dead. The drugs would have killed me."

Teen girl from Mississippi walking

I went to Dr. Rhodes' clinic today. A teen age girl from Mississippi arrived awhile back with a red foot swollen like a football. She was in a wheelchair. She suffered from extreme, unrelenting pain so severe that even air moving across her foot was agonizing .

Today, she was wearing one of those medical boots and walking on her foot. She's not ready to go home yet, but she's getting there. I see amazing recoveries like this all the time at Dr. Rhodes' clinic. And every time, I am just blown away by what he can do for people no one else can help.

I've seen a number of pain patients on national TV news magazines tell the story of their agony and the futility of their search for relief. I've wanted to reach through the TV screen, take that person's hand, and shout to them, "There's help right here. I know what you have. Come on down and get treated." It breaks my heart that they don't know about Dr. Rhodes.

Maybe, just maybe, with this book and the efforts of Dr. Rhodes' many grateful patients who are trying to spread the word, this genius of a man can get the recognition he so richly deserves and have the opportunity to spread his treatment system across the country so that everyone in chronic pain can toss away their wheelchairs, crutches, and beds of pain and live normal lives once again.

www.paindefeat.com

Hi, again.

If you suffer from chronic pain and are looking for relief, I am glad you found this site. I was skeptical back in 2001 when I first met Dr. Rhodes. But what I experienced and what I have seen in his clinic have opened my eyes to an entirely different approach to treating chronic pain. He has patients all over the country who are grateful for what he has done for them. If you want to go to his website, key in www.paindefeat.com.

In addition, you can view three news videos at: www.kiiitv.com. Two were made at his pain clinic. One is an interview of me talking about the book on Dr. Rhodes. I have repetitions on this page. When I work on the computer, nothings works as it is supposed to. The programs always stick their tongue out at me, then laugh, and roll over and play dead. And this was after they had been to some of the best pain specialists in the country.
